Successful ‘Kangaroo Mother Care’: A Necessity for Preterm Low Birth Weight Babies in Rural Hospital Settings in Bangladesh

Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a cost-effective solution in taking care of pre-term low birth weight neonates not only developing countries with scarce resources, but also developed easy accessibility to technological advances like incubators. It provides an where the mother herself acts as incubator and keeps baby close her skinto- skin contact, warmth, food, shelter love that needs ensure its survival.In this paper we described successful management preterm born at 29th gestational weeks weighing 980 gm rural setting without any other equipment. The was critical condition since despite adequate medical therapy she remained hypothermic. KMC initiated keep warm marked improvements were noticed baby. discharged day-14 body 1100gm. Baby regular follow up subsequently 2-months 24days,she reached desired 2100gm improvement feeding, movement vital signs.It concluded that, limited resource setting, can act very effective measure preventing neonatal morbidity by heat regulation, exclusive breastfeeding promoting early discharge from hospital.
